Its My Party!!!

F irst beginning last Friday, it went like any other. We got an invite to a dinner at my mother in law's place. No biggie since we get invites all the time. We pull up, I see my brother and sister in law's car. I said, 'oh Dan and Denise are here too.' Thinking to myself oh she must have invited them too. I notice my father in law's car. That's strange since they are divorced. Then it happens. My father in law's wife asks my husband to carry my gift inside.
Surprise no more.
I walk inside and figure that 4 or 5 women are there, all my inlaws throwing me some lame party. There was another surprise--the real surprise I guess. My best friend from Toronto was there. It was like a dream. Was it really her? Why would she be here?
And it gets better... She brought me gifts from my family. It was awesome. Stuff from my mom, sister, aunts and family friends. It was awesome.
We ate, took pictures, opened presents. It wasn't the shower I always thought I would have, but it was a perfect party. I have such a generous family and they can't wait from this little baby to pop out. And N coming out to Kamloops was great. We had tonnes of fun and she left too early Monday.
Now I get the fun part of putting it all together and putter around until this little snuggle decides to officially join our little family!

Anything for you my bestest friend. I know it wasn't what you always wanted; I knew it wouldn't be...but I tried with all my might to make it the best I could.
I wish I could have stayed longer as well...but when you're the lowest on the totem pole in a unionized environment; you have to work with it.
Being asked to carry your gift into the party is a bit much...you'd think "surprise party" would have been enough of a giveaway!
I'm glad you had a good time...I know I'll never forget it. I'm so incredibly proud of you...much more than words could ever say.
